COA Continues to Support “Friends of the OPP Museum”

Commissioned Officers Association | June 25, 2015

On Tuesday June 16, 2015 President John Trude made the official presentation of a cheque to the Friends of the OPP Museum.

The presentation of a $2,500.00 cheque fulfilled the commitment that the COA has made to provide annual support to the Friends. This group depends exclusively on donations and other fund-raising activities to enable the great work that it does – supporting the procurement, restoration and maintenance of the Museum’s extensive collection of photographs and artifacts. TheC OA is a proud supporter of this organization that does so much to promote the history and traditions of the Ontario Provincial Police.

The presentation of the cheque was made to Friends President, Retired Inspector Dave Osborne, in front of The OPP Museum at General Headquarters. COA Vice President Dave Truax and 2nd Vice President Bernie Murphy were also on hand. In the background of the photo you can see the beautifully restored 1931 Henderson motorcycle on display at the Museum. The oldest original OPP vehicle, the Henderson is but the most recent of a number of significant projects that the Museum has been able to carry out because of the support of the Friends of The OPP Museum. Friends fundraising efforts for 2015 will focus on the digitization of thousands of slides, negatives and prints currently in the museum’s collection .
