Voting of the proposed OPP COA Memorandum of Agreement (2015-2018) concluded at 4:00 p.m. June 30th, 2017. The results were reviewed and validated by the accounting firm BDO (188 ballots sent to members, 127 completed ballots returned).
I am pleased to announce that the majority (81%) of the membership voted in favour to ratify the agreement. As a result, I will be in contact with government this week to formalize the agreement.
In addition, I am also pleased to inform you that the majority (79%) of the membership also voted in favour to retain counsel for the purpose of assessing and if appropriate pursuing a Charter Application (freedom of association). We will be in contact with our counsel in the near future to move forward with the membership’s wishes. I will keep you informed through this process.
Thank you all for your patience, participation and support over this lengthy labour process.
I would like to particularly thank the members of the COA Joint Government Committee, Executive Committee and Board of Directors for their contribution during negotiations and ratification.
Kind regards,
Tony Cristilli
COA-President
