Rochester Police Department advised veteran officer, Anthony Mazurkiewicz, age 55 with 30 years law enforcement experience was fatally shot on July 21st, 2022 at 9:15 p.m. while in the performance of his duty in Rochester, New York. The officer and his partner were conducting surveillance when ambushed from behind. The victim officer’s partner was also shot and wounded during this attack.
The suspect in this murder has been apprehended.
The victim officer and his partner officer were transported to area hospitals. The victim officer was pronounced deceased at approximately 11:23 p.m. on July 21st, 2022.
