Commissioned Officers Association | November 12, 2024

It is with profound sadness to announce the sudden passing of Inspector Matt Norlock, Detachment Commander of the Red Lake Detachment (NWR) on Tuesday November 5, 2024.

Matt is survived by his dearest love, Shawnda, treasured sons Ben and Luke, parents Rick and Judy, brother Jim (Jen), niece and nephew Macee and Fisher, Grandmother Bernadette Norlock, in-laws Ray and Sandra Hall, and brother-in-law Ryan (Kristy). Matt is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Matt was born in Hawkesbury, Ontario on December 12, 1976 to Rick and Judy Norlock, joining older brother Jim. The Ontario Provincial Police brought him to Ear Falls in 2000 and he quickly fell in love with the North.

Matt was a beloved member of every circle of influence he was a part of. Good friend, father, husband and colleague, he brought his wisdom to serious conversations and joy to candid moments. In his work, he had a deep sense of justice and influenced people to be better to each other and their community. In his personal life, he knew the value of family, friends and time outside.

If desired, donations can be made in Matt’s memory, to his children through the Red Lake Chapel, Box 237, Red Lake ON P0V 2M0. Please make cheque out to the Red Lake Chapel, memo: In Trust to Ben and Luke Norlock or e-transfer to [email protected] Subject: Norlock
